Match-3 Puzzle Games
Swap, cascade, clear the board
Match-3 Puzzle is the hub for games built around the oldest trick in mobile puzzling: swap two neighbouring pieces, line up three or more of the same colour, and watch the board cascade as new candies drop in from the top. Every game here uses that same core swap-and-clear loop, but the four we picked land on it from different angles — a shop-counter framing in one, a royal storybook wrapper in another, a heavier lean on chained boosters in a third.
None of the four games in this hub reinvent the swap. What separates them is pacing and the shape of the reward loop: how often a stacked centrepiece or a screen-filling bomb interrupts the grind, how quickly a level goal resolves, and how much the surrounding characters and shop scenes try to hold your attention between boards. We played through the opening hour of each before writing a word, and the differences show up early rather than fifty levels in.

What to watch for in this genre
Chain length matters more than colour count here. A four-game sample isn't a lot, but the pattern held across all of them: the titles that reward matching five or more pieces at once with a genuinely useful booster (a striped candy, a colour bomb) stay interesting longer than the ones that just count up a score meter.
Watch how a game frames its stacked or bomb-shaped centrepieces — the shared candy-plus-cake board mechanic three of these four games lean on. Used sparingly it's a nice change of pace; used every third board it starts to feel like the only idea the level designer had.
