First few minutes

Sweet Crush Royal wraps its board in a fairy-tale frame: a crowned princess character greets you on the menu, a duckling companion trails along the level map, and the swap-three grid itself sits inside a decorated panel bordered by iced tiles and floral hedge pieces rather than a plain edge.

Mechanically, it's the most familiar entry in the hub — swap two pieces, match three or more of a colour, watch the cascade — and the tutorial gets through the basics in well under a minute before handing control over fully.

Boosters and specials

Matching four candies at once creates what the game calls a "magic candy bomb," and unlike some boosters in this hub that show up only after a lucky cascade, these are straightforward to set up on purpose once you've spotted a four-in-a-row opportunity — a small but appreciated bit of player agency.

A rainbow swirl candy centrepiece appears on later boards as a bigger, rarer reward, clearing a wide radius when triggered; we didn't reach it often in our test session, but its effect on the board was the single biggest single-move clear we saw across the whole hub.

Look and sound

The presentation is polished — proper feature-graphic-quality character art for the princess and duckling, a coherent pastel-and-gold colour scheme carried through menus and board alike. It reads as the most visually finished of the four Match-3 Puzzle games.

That said, we noticed one loading or promotional screen render a non-English label during an otherwise fully English session, which is worth flagging even though it didn't affect actual gameplay text or level goals.

How it compares to the hub

Set against Bonbons Crush Legend's shop-counter framing and Candy Fever Smash's obstacle-heavy boards, Sweet Crush Royal is the most narrative-flavoured of the four without ever actually delivering a story — the princess theme is set dressing over the same swap-and-clear loop everyone else here runs.

Level numbers we saw climbing past the 5,900s on one progress screen suggest a genuinely long level catalogue, more than we could verify in the others, which may appeal specifically to players who track long-term progress as part of the appeal.

Bottom line

Sweet Crush Royal is a solid, good-looking match-three that leans on theme rather than mechanics to stand out, and mostly succeeds at feeling pleasant rather than essential. The four-candy bomb system is worth learning; the princess story is worth ignoring.

What we liked

  • The princess-and-duckling framing is consistent across menus, loading screens, and the board itself
  • Match-4 candy bombs are genuinely powerful and easy to set up deliberately
  • A long level count gives players who like a sense of ongoing progress plenty of runway

Where it falls short

  • We saw a stray non-English menu label appear on one promotional screen mid-session
  • The princess storyline is entirely cosmetic — there's no dialogue or narrative payoff to it
